Mahaska County Historical Society maintains a genealogy library in the museum at Nelson Pioneer Farm. Our genealogy library features numerous Mahaska County record books, family history books, area newspaper clippings and intersting artifacts like letters from a Civil War captain to his bride describing his battles and life in the field. The library is open by appointment only, so please call (641) 672-2989 ahead if you are wanting access.

Normal museum admission fees apply to library usage, or we can do the research for you at a fee of $10.00 per hour for a minimum of two hours payable in advance, plus copies and postage fees. Copies are available for 25¢ each if copied on the Historical Society's copier, or actual cost for copies that must be made elsewhere (i.e. larger documents).
